About Dr. Gabrielle Stutman
Dr. Stutman is a licensed
psychologist with over 25 years of experience. She specializes in
clinical neuropsychology, cognitive remediation, and psychotherapy
for children and adults. Many years of training and experience as a
psychoanalyst, hypnotherapist, and cognitive remediation therapist
inform her neuropsychological examinations. Thus, she is an astute
diagnostician, who understands puzzling symptoms and provides
sensible plans for their remediation. She also does custody
assessments for the New York City and Westchester County Family
Courts, disability assessments for New York State Worker's
Compensation, and forensic testimony.
After earning her MA in psychology
from Yeshiva University and PhD in psychology from the New School University,
Dr. Stutman's postdoctoral training has qualified her for
Certificates in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Advanced
Institute for Analytic Psychotherapy and the Psychoanalytic Center
for Communicative Education. She has also completed the program in
Clinical Neuropsychology at Fielding University.
Dr. Stutman is not just a
member of professional organizations. She has been elected to
leadership positions and received awards for them. For instance,
the Independent Practice Division of the New York State
Psychological Association (NYSPA) has elected her to be its
President three times, she is Founder of NYSPA's Forensic Division, she serves NYSPA on several statewide
committees, and NYSPA has recognized her leadership by conferring a
Distinguished Service Award.
In
addition to writing articles in several professional publications
and serving since 1989 as a Contributing Editor of the International
Journal of Communicative Psychoanalysis, Dr. Stutman has extensive
teaching and supervisory experience, from undergraduate through
postgraduate levels. Since 1990, she has been an Assistant
Professor at Bronx Community College of the City University of New
York.
